First trip to doctors

After 6 months of my anxiety getting higher and higher and 6 weeks of sleepless nights due to hot flushes every 20 minutes I gave in and rang doctors today and they said nurse practitioner could help and gave me an afternoon appointment today , unfortunately she couldn't prescribe me anything as she can only do repeat prescriptions but she was so lovely and gave me so much hope I could feel normal again .
She was so sorry she couldn't help and had booked me in to see female doctor when I finish work on Wednesday.
She has given the heads up to the doctor who is going to run me through the options I have of anti depressants and hrt and we can discuss what's best for me .
When so many have trouble seeing a doctor for weeks I was so impressed to be seen by nurse same day (who understood perfectly how shit I feel ) and for her to get me the only woman doctor within 48 hours is fantastic .
Fingers crossed I get this sorted and to quote the nurse (you only get one life it should be happy )
Let's hope I can feel less anxious as to be honest I can't live like this anymore.
🌺to you all

Hope the drs goes well. I can also recommend Dr Maryon Stewart. She treat menopause without drugs. She is really excellent and cured my horrendous PMT

@heather1 Thank you , to be honest I feel so bad I would consider anything anyone throws at me .

There is a very long thread on here about 6 threads down at the moment - Menopause and depression- where there are links to recommended routes to treat anxiety during peri menopause. UNless you have a medical history that means you can't use HRT, the NICE guidelines are HRT, not ADs.

JacksprattandJollyJill · 01/01/2019 20:02

Thank you @JinglingHellsBells yes nurse did say anti depressant or hrt I think maybe because she could see how anxious I was but definitely want hrt as certainly not depressed just bloody anxious as night sweats wake me every 20 minutes and tired and anxious all day rather than depressed.

What age are you OP?
I'm having similar symptoms & I'm working up to making a Doctors appointment (I'm 47)

JacksprattandJollyJill · 04/01/2019 07:24

@TheMarbleFaun I am 50 .
I went to the doctor on Wednesday and she prescribed me HRT but I am having trouble getting the prescription.
Chemist said they can't get the pills anymore so I went back to doctors who was dismissive and thought they were being difficult 🤔and said to go to a boots which I did and they said the same .
So I am now waiting for her to write me another prescription, hoping to sort it today .

@JacksprattandJollyJill
What did she prescribe that you can't get?

If it's Utrogestan 200mgs, that is now only available for fertility but if you had a private prescription, they should honour it.

If they say they are out of stock or whatever, they can supply you with the 100mgs version- you simply take 2 of them.

JacksprattandJollyJill · 04/01/2019 12:57

@JinglingHellsBells it's Elleste duet conti tablets .
Rang doctors twice today and they still haven't written new prescription.
Annoys me that two chemists say I need a different prescription but doctors dragging their feet . Doctor now out on visits and not back until late afternoon .
There is more than one doctor so not sure why another doctor can't do it ,
so doesn't look like I will get prescription until next week now as doctors shut tomorrow and Sunday .
Feeling very fed up 😟

Doctor rang me last night , she did seem a little irritated, she said so where had I taken prescription so I told her the chemists that I went too and told her
they said they can't get it , with a sigh she said ok I will prescribe another one but you need to pick it up on Monday .
So off to doctors when I finish work on Monday and praying I will get hrt very soon .
Who knew it could be so much hassle
To be honest in my sensitive state I was hoping that I would have been able to start tablets last Wednesday when I saw her but hey ho let's hope I can get new prescription Monday evening .
Doesn't help living rural and not many chemists and they all shut early .🙄
