Utrogestan and Oestrogel

Wondering if anyone can comment / help...

I picked up the utrogestan 100mg and Oestrogel 17b oestradiol pump pack yesterday. GP and pharmacist said to take 1 utrogestan tablet for 25 days, then give it a break. In addition I was to use 1 pump of oestrogel constantly without break.
Having read the patient leaflets this seems wrong - they recommend 2 utrogestan tablets on days 15-26 of cycle plus 2 pumps of oestrogel a day.
Anyone got any experience on this and what to do?
GP had not heard of bioidentical HRT and had never prescribed the above before and was very vague. Pharmacist started to read leaflet to answer my questions and so I don't think was familiar with it.
I think this is the right medication considering my blood test results and stage of perimenopause. Its just the dosage I want to get right....any help gladly received.
Thank you x

I've used both for a long time. The dose isn't really right for you if you are still having periods. The starting dose is 2 pumps- all this on the leaflet in the carton. You can always try a lower dose like 1 pump to see how that feels for a few weeks and if not enough increase to 2. You use it daily. If you still have your own natural cycles, then the best way to start HRT is to have a cycle with it. That's using Utrogestan for 12 days a month. The continuous use of 25 days is really for women with no periods and they don't even need to have a 3 day break- it can be taken daily. The break of a few days is to allow a light bleed. You should aim to take the Utrogestan on day 15 of a normal cycle but if you are not having regular cycles, start after 15 days on gel.
All estrogen used now except the kind with Pre in the name (Prempak etc) is body identical. (bio is not a medical term.)

That's really helpful - thank you.
I still have monthly periods so will do the 2 pumps of oestrogel with 12 days utrogestan. Do I follow the instructions with 2 tablets of utrogestan or the GPs 1 tablet do you think?

If there is a leaflet in the box it ought to explain. 100mgs taken daily, or 200mgs taken for the 12 days. Those are the standard doses.
