HRT and Mirena

Hi, I am 55 and struggling with keeping asleep which is becoming quite a problem. FSH levels indicate I am probably post menopausal. My Dr has suggested HRT patches but told me I must take out my mirena which I have had for 5 years as it no longer has enough progesterone. My friend (a practice nurse) has said that is not a good idea ( to take out mirena) as I could have uterus issues and these would be a problem as I am travelling for 10 weeks from the end of Jan as part of an extended once in a lifetime holiday! Other than this, my health is good, some breast cancer in my family but no genetic links. Any thoughts?
