I'm sorry you're suffering like this if it's any consolation I could have written your post 10 years ago, unable to take HRT, I was really miserable. Thankfully I've been period free for about 5 years now. I'm still knackered and do a good line in going bright red but it's bearable. Hang in there and keep badgering your GP until you get the help you need

Clottydotty · 12/12/2018 17:09

Thanks for the reply. Its almost like i have been propelled into this. Awful not being able to be in control of my body/life/emotions
Willing to try anything the doctor suggests just to feel like me agsin. Quality of life is horrendous right now Blush

Yes me too at 43, not fun

alansleftfoot · 12/12/2018 20:47

45 and starting too, not fun Sad

Ouch44 · 12/12/2018 20:57

I had similar at about the same age. Luckily the flooding part didn't last too long! I found that ibuprofen is really good for flooding too. It was a revelation and also helped with the ache.

I was going to try a moon cup and period pants (think?) but then it stopped almost as suddenly as it started!! Think my Oestrogen went loopy suddenly! On HRT now and ok most of the time.

Prestonsflowers · 12/12/2018 21:02

I’m the other side of this so the only thing I can tell you is it will get better.
You will get there and come out on the other side.
I do remember how fucking a awful it was. Just hang on in there

Clottydotty · 12/12/2018 21:09

Not that i wish this on anyone but its comforting to know im not on my own. Currently feel washed out and emotional. Hope the doctor prescribes something fast acting. Hope im not told to persevere as its first time this has happened. After quite a heavy bleed and clotting earlier today im now light pink spotting. So drained by it all

Are you experiencing same symptoms? Hope you have come across something that alleviates it. Its turned me from a confident outgoing person to a hermit.

Why housebound & unable to work? B/C of the severe flooding or the anxiety?

yummyeclair · 13/12/2018 18:54

For me HRT at 49 improved the symptoms. Worth asking about. I tried to help myself but had a miserable 2-3 years.

TroysMammy · 13/12/2018 18:57

When I read the title I thought it was nightmares you had when being perimenopausal. Last night I dreamt I was singing the Val Doonican song Delaney's Donkey Confused.

Clottydotty · 13/12/2018 19:05

Housbound due to flooding and anxiety. Back at docs today . Sent to hospital for blood tests. Testing for anaemia snd thyroid. Came back straight away that im anaemic so called to docs for prescription for iron. Seeing doc again next week for internal exam.

At 41 the same symptoms, aches, dry everywhere, no energy, weight loss, insomnia. A year on hrt and back to normal. For me it was almost impossible to go on my life suffering like this,

MummaPI · 15/12/2018 22:45

I've bitten the bullet and booked a private appt in the new year.

PeridotCricket · 15/12/2018 22:51

The anaemia can make the bleeding worse. I flooded once and went t9 gp. Got the pill first which controlled the flooding, and iron pills, then went on hrt which was better as relieved other symptoms.

First go not helpful so tried a second one and also a couple of different hrt. It gets better.

PeridotCricket · 15/12/2018 22:52

Not go, GP.

Hi all , I'm 43 (44 in April ) and I am hoping someone can help me.

Age 37 had a fertility scan said right ovary had shrunk and blood supply was crap and only had 3 follicles- basically at 37 I had the ovaries of a women well into her 40's.

Managed to conceive my daughter at 40 had her 41.

I had always been regular 30-33 days then gradually 27 and when I didn't ovulate 18/22 days .

I was having normal cycles up till sept , lost weight ( too much gym) had car accident and bad anxiety, not eating etc .. October I knew I wouldn't ovulate and I had a bleed at cd 21 lasted 5 days , had all signs body trying to ovulate again then a week later after sex I bled again for a week .

Had bad anxiety lost more weight but had normal cycle last month now my period is late ( definitely not pregnant) I've had cramps , all the signs it's coming but it isn't .

My face is getting very hot only face
My down stairs is very very dry uncomfortable Infact .

I have developed real bad anxiety, health anxiety to be exact , I'm having terrible anxiety most days , I'm on propranolol and citalpram, if I wasn't in propranolol I'd have palpitations also .

Sleeping has been an issue waking up anxious like I'm going to die , feeling like there's something seriously wrong with me .

I've also developed acid reflux and heartburn but not sure if that's to do with the anxiety as it's definitely worse .

Tearful and no patience at all ! Would these be peri? I had fsh test 5 years ago cane back 17.5 .

Gp says I'm too young but I don't think so for peri . Any advice would be a great help .x

MummyTo3Beauts · 04/01/2019 23:49

@Aspenoliver
I have no advice to give but I am going through exactly the same thing. I don't know if it's peri menopause or not. The doctors have also said I'm too young (37). How are you dealing with the waking up panicking, that is what I'm struggling with the most. I also take sertraline and propanolol

MrsLuther · 04/01/2019 23:58

I was 37 when I started with awful panic attacks, dry vagina - stressed at small things, not sleeping then sleeping but waking myself up wit adrenaline surges etc etc. Not myself. Been on hrt since 39. Been difficult finding one to suit but it’s been so much better with than without. Now I’m back to normal and thank the hrt gods every day Smile

I have no additional risks until normal menopause age - 52ish (am 46) and even then I’m a normal weight, exercise regularly and eat well Etc. I’m not concerned about risk - there’s more risk of a heart attack if I were overweight and not on hrt!

MrsLuther · 05/01/2019 00:02

egat I’m saying is there’s risks associated with everything - it’s about keeping mine to a minimum whilst maintaining quality of life

MrsLuther · 05/01/2019 00:02

*what

Aspenoliver · 05/01/2019 09:40

Thanks for replies , I’m so stressed .. health anxiety has taken over . I’m loosing weight because I’m so stressed and upset stomach h ( am having further tests) .

Could this be peri then? I can feel how dry I am when I walk ! Health anxiety got me fearing its more then peri but becoming anxious started a few months ago it’s like a vicious circle.

Aspenoliver · 05/01/2019 10:19

@MummyTo3Beauts I'm not coping well I'm on edge all the time , in a constant panic my anxiety is sky high , I'm not sure if the meds have made it worse but I don't feel any less anxious, more so I'm fact .

MummyTo3Beauts · 05/01/2019 10:33

@Aspenoliver
I feel the same. My doctor told me to up my propanolol at bedtime so I did last night and I felt worse for it. My periods have gone from 28 days, to 25 and this last one was 22. I also have really iron so am in tablets for that but I've had it before and it never caused these problem
