So.. a lengthy discussion with the GP today resulted in being prescribed Evorel Sequi patches. I feel slightly apprehensive about starting them and would welcome any experience with these (good and bad) from any of you who have tried them. Many thanks x

I'm on them, I'm just going into my third month so it hasn't been long.

The good - a lot of the issues I had before, dry eyes, sore throat, painful sex, appalling hot flushes in waves (I'd go a few weeks and be fine, then I'd be getting them every 5 minutes and I was frantic with the awfulness of it), have all gone or really lessened. I feel really happy and upbeat on the oestrogen part. I am absolutely gagging for sex and it's better and way more frequent than it has been for years. My DH is a very happy man BUT see the next paragraph! My withdrawal bleeds have so far been very light, especially compared to the horrendous periods I was intermittently getting.

The bad - the progesterone part turns me into a bad tempered, tetchy person who picks arguments with any family member in the vicinity. DD1 has started saying "and which patch are you on at the moment?" I had a huge row with DH last night because he plugged his phone into the tv socket to charge it and unplugged the tv (I wasn't watching it). Today I've just started back on oestrogen and I've said sorry and hugged him a lot. He said "Living with you is like being on a bloody roller coaster nowadays".

I also had terrible headaches for the first month - a month long migraine that didn't go. To be fair, this was a problem 30 years ago when I tried to go on the pill. A ton of different types and after 9 months of appalling migraines the doc took me off. I'm worried this is going to happen with HRT. So last month I halved the patches and the headaches went, though the dry eyes are back. This month I'm trying 2/3 of a patch to see if I can tolerate it. The nice thing is you can chop them up and the doctor had said I could start on half and work up if I preferred.

I have a phone review with doc in a couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see what she suggests.

In short, great for sex but the 2 weeks on progesterone I'm not tolerating well mood wise. Everybody is different, though. Let me know how you get on.

@musicposy thank you for your honest opinion it's very helpful. I may well half them to start off with and see how I go..! I haven't actually been to the chemist yet mind.

I've found myself feeling very low and demotivated by life, the night sweats are just awful and my brain is like a complete fog has descended. I used to be far more with it and tuned in but I just don't seem to getting going anymore, come 9pm I'm shattered and need my bed.

My mood swings will be an interesting one to watch out for 😆
