I had hysterectomy 11 yrs ago when I was in my very early 30s. Left ovaries in due to my age.

Previous Gynae - 5 miscarriages, 1 ectopic (saved tube) very very heavy painful periods hence the hysterectomy.

No major symptoms in the early years apart from needing Vagifem pessaries occasionally.

Now in my 40s, my facial skin is like a bloody oil slick with odd chin acne (using non soap wash and lukewarm water to rinse),not cysts but I had had lumpy spots which don't burst - like a hard white matter underneath spots also have lots of downy hair on face.I have had hair loss over the last few months, hairline/fringe area is noticeable. Can't shift weight around middle. Crying at stupid shit -like cheesy adverts. Ache in my joints. Restless legs in evenings.

I feel ancient and shit.

Could this be the symptoms of the menopause? TIA

In a word, YES.

The stats show that many women who have hysterectomy have ovarian failure within 2-3 years regardless of age.

You need estrogen. You are too young to suffer and put up with all of this.

Have a read of the website My Menopause Doctor - Dr Louise Newson- loads of info and follow her on twitter for info too.

Thanks Queen. I'll look up that webpage and twitter feed.

I guess I better take myself off to the GP for a blood test for hormone levels... last one was 3 yrs ago ish.

I hope you are doing ok justgiveme? Feel free to post on here about your issues!

Thanks, Howls. It's just that I've noticed how bad my pmt is in the last year is horrendous. I get one large hideous spot around the TOTM. My periods are sooo heavy. I ache. My hair was thin on top but now really thin. Weight gain was very slow but its very difficult to shift. Libido has dropped a little. Funnily enough I've almost overnight began to drink gin! It's like I'm a different person and don't know if that's a good thing or not.
For 13 years I was either ttc-ing, pg (3), bf-ing or mc-ing(5) so I guess since dhs vasectomy this is now the first time my body is doing its own thing along with the perimenopause I think. It's tough.
