Can I have HRT?

I'm 49 and still having regular (ish) (horrifically painful and heavy) periods but am also having the sweats and horrendous mood swings.

Can I have HRT? Or is it only suitable for people who's periods have stopped? - I don't want to waste my time going to the GP if I'm going to be told No.

I was prescribed HRT by my GP. I was having terrible hot flushes, painful periods and my mood swings were dramatic to say the least. I was your age when I started taking HRT. Talk to your GP, imo I cannot see why he wouldn't give them to you. Sometimes having extremely high blood pressure might be a reason to not prescribe. Xx

HRT is for women in peri and for women post meno. So yes of course you can have it.

Hurrah! A friend said I couldn't so I wanted to check.

I'm off to phone the doctors now.
