Hrt - perimenopause for anxiety and low mood

So I’m 49 diagnosed peri and have been trying to manage this with supplements and lifestyle in the main this works but with low days where I feel flat and most days my anxiety is higher than it should be. I find it hard to work as my mind feels messed up and foggy, spend a lot of my day peeing even though no caffeine ! And spend time with low appeltite because of stomach feeling tied in knots. My moods are erratic I think they’re better when my period arrives big only for about 2 weeks. I usually feel worse first thing in morning and lift as day progresses. I feel I owe to myself and kids to try and be my old self ! I want to be my old self ! I saw dr last week where I burst into tears and we discussed hrt as a possibility. I’m going back this afternoon and think I might give it a go. As I’m peri I understand there’s different protocols - any recommendations of ones that work mainly for mood / anxiety and brain fog? I suffer from hormonal migraines Thanks

Just try hrt! I makes such a difference for me and gave my old self back. I was at a dark place a year ago and feel so much better now. Give it a chance!

do you mind me asking which you're on and if you were still having periods when you went on emerald?

Yeah, of course! I am on Femoston 2/10, it is cyclical type.
I was having my periods when I started it.
I had awful meno symptoms and the quality of my life was badly affected.

Following. I'm experiencing many of the same symptoms and am convinced it's perimenopause, but GP isn't remotely interested.

I am still taking the pill so I don't know if HRT can be taken alongside...

DidoAndHerLament · 30/10/2018 15:12

Hi - I was having still periods and started HRT 6 months ago. I have a Mirena coil + 2mg daily oestrogen (Elleste Solo). It has worked wonders for crippling hot flushes and night sweats (accompanied by unbearable surges of adrenaline) which have disappeared. I've not had any side effects but have not noticed any effect on my mood or energy levels.

I have just been prescribed sandrema gel 1mg which is a gel to rub on once per day and then day 15-26 utrogeston which is a bio identical progesterone tablet which I need because I’m still having periods. Think it stops womb thickening - I think it’s worth a try so unless I bottle I plan on starting it tonight ! I can always stop but if it makes me feel like my old self I’ll be delighted. Would love to hear more stories
