HRT gel & Utrogestan stopped working, should i up my dose??

I am waiting for an appointment to come through to discuss with my GP but meantime maybe someone will know....
I have been using 2 pumps of gel everyday (and 200mg of utrogestan for 12 days) which has been wonderful and stabilised my moods etc. I am 47 and started HRT around a year ago.
Suddenly, though, i am back to feeling terrible, weeping constantly or angry and hot.
Should l simply up to 3 or 4 pumps?

Please help, i feel really crap.

You could, OR it's possible you just have a lot of Utrogestan in your system- does this tie in with when you take it? You could try reducing to 10 days peer 28 (some women go as low as 7 days but under a specialist) or even lengthen the cycle a little to over 28 days- maybe 32 or so and see if you feel better without so much utro?

You are quite young for meno so it would be best to increase the gel but do so gradually, I'm on just under 2 pumps in my 60s now, so for someone as young as you :) it may not be enough.

Your GP is unlikely to know TBH- experiment and see how you go.

Increase to 3 pumps for 2-3 weeks and then see how that feels.

Hello Queen thank you for replying.
2 pumps had been working fine for 8 months or so. This sudden crash is very strange. I have also had barely any bleeding in the withdrawal times. I forgot to mention this to GP on phone yesterday.
She has advised exactly as you say - increase to 3 pumps for a few weeks and see what happens. Already i feel my skin reacting in that it feels stingy and blotchy, and i am sweaty. I am very sensitive to many things - lotions, hormones, smells, sounds, food etc etc etc. so i wonder if my natural hormones are dipping, and even if only slightly, for me, the results feel HUGE.
I ill take the weird skin and sweat if my mood improves, i hate feeling so blue.

i too have wondered about the progesterone......

Try splitting the dose morning and late evening. This means there is less to rub in and irritate your skin. so, one and a bit pumps am, and one and a bit pumps pm. You can smooth on your upper arms or inner thighs, or both. Don't rub it in- you only need to smooth it on to cover the area.

Yes I'll do that. I have wondered if absorption may have been an issue. also wondered at the efficacy of the gel as it got toweards the end of a pump pack. Hmm..
Is the non bleeding a case for concern?

There won't be any issues with the gel as it gets nr the end of the pump- it's all inside a plastic pouch inside the pump container and is not a product that separates in any way - it's the same whether it's the first squirt or the last!

The reason you aren't bleeding is the amount you use is not enough to stimulate the womb lining (when offset with the Utrogestan) to bleed. If you use more gel you may bleed and if you used the Utrogestan maybe every 5 weeks not 28 days you might well bleed too.

i shall knock those worries off my long list then!!!
