HRT and hormones disappearing off a cliff

Hiya

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem... I saw a consultant a couple of years ago re meno symptoms who put me on Mirena and transdermal oestrogen gel. This worked for a very short time and then symptoms came back e.g. hot flushes, aches etc. I then tried two different types of patch which did the same. Worked in short term but then seemed to stop working.
Since last autumn I've been on the highest dose of Elleste Solo with great success. Until 3 weeks ago... it started with feeling hot and the old muscle twitches and I'm now getting sweats and feel sore all over. Just grim!
Has this happened to anyone else? Am gutted as I can't have a higher dose and feel awful. I know it's not anything else as the symptoms are soooo familiar. Have had thyroid etc checked in the past year and all fine :(

Are you a healthy weight? If not, lose it as being overweight makes all of this worse (and there is more body for the hormones to reach.)

Did you go right up to the max 4 pumps gel?

Have you thought about getting rid of the Mirena and using either a combo patch or a separate estrogen/ progesterone? Maybe it's a side effect of the Mirena.

Thanks Queen - appreciate you getting back to me. Weight fine as am size 12 and healthy BMI. Have used 2 different kinds of gel (one of them with the pump) and varied the dosage including the maximum for adequate periods of time.

Interesting about the Mirena though. Am desperately trying to remember if the muscle pain started before that or not? Think I'll go back to the Dr to see what they say. Sooo frustrating whatever it is! Sort of wondering if I might have Fibromyalgia as there's a few folk with it in the family.

TBH I'd just get rid of the Mirena and see how that feels. Some women find it great but I've heard of others who have every side effect under the sun with it.
