Faint line on FSH test

I'm forty-one years old.

My doctor being ever so unhelpful didn't let me test even though I have perimenopause symptoms and would quite like to throttle everyone, as well as having hot flushes, anxiety and other issues to rival the fastest rollercoaster.

What I would like to know is, do you see the same as I do here? I am going to retest in seven days.

I doubt those tests are worth buying. You need a full range of blood tests for this on days 2-5 of a cycle and then repeated a month later.

At 41 this is early menopause. Read up on it online, see GP again, insist in blood tests, if they refuse, ask for referral to a gynae. Don't be bullied- early menopause needs treatment.

Thanks @QueenoftheNights. My doctor wouldn't test me cos apparently I'm too young despite having a ton of symptoms. I have a second kit I'm going to be using on the third day of my period.

I don't feel great to be honest. I've always been terrified of getting pregnant to the wrong person, and hormonal contraception does horrid things to me, so my tubes were tied at thirty-three. Abusive relationships do a number on your brain especially when you're scared of being pregnant with a horrible man. It's shit - I finally meet someone who is an absolute star, and I'm drying up and probably in early menopause. I'm hoping if I show a test result to my doctor that they will take some bloods.

Knowing parts of me are withering away is bloody killing me, especially since I was dismissed and told I'm not old enough. 😖

I feel for you but in all honesty you need to either find another GP or get tough with the one you have.

It's simply not on to be treated like this. Premature and early menopause is a known condition. If your GP hasn't heard of either, they ought not to be practising as a GP. It's that simple.

If they insist on saying you are not old enough, are you actually saying' I think I am having an early menopause' .

And if they won't intervene, ask for a referral to a consultant who will help.

There is no way you ought to fork out for tests which aren't accurate anyway and be dismissed.

Toughen up your approach, see another GP, change practices, whatever it takes.

Hi.Did you find out what your FSH levels were? I also done the test, the line is very faint, but it is there, so I am panicking a bit. Thank you x
