3am nearly and I'm yet to sleep. This doesn't happen too often but when it does it's awful. Panicky, unsettled and shattered but body won't stay asleep. I doze off and jump awake a few seconds later. I'm due on so I'm pretty sure it's hormonal. Can anyone sympathise?/-stop me going out of my mind!

Me too. Mostly my HRT stops me waking up but I'm going through a bad patch of insomnia!

Namechanger1404 · 27/08/2018 03:35

I’m awake. Woke up 45 mins ago and picked up my phone. It’s one of those nights, because I had an upsetting conversation with my daughter before bed, so it plays on my mind.

My sleep is erratic, I’m permanently knackeredSad

MadamBatty · 27/08/2018 03:38

I’m awake, I did have a whole glass of wine earlier so it’s my own fault.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 27/08/2018 03:38

I’m awake, but that’s cos I’m finishing off a bottle of wine and playing Smiths songs

Frusso · 27/08/2018 03:42

I'm wide awake. I work nights now although not tonight so I'm wide awake tonight however flipping tired I am.

Pretty sure that the more tired I am the less I can actually sleep,

I didn't sleep well before doing night shifts, although I do sleep slightly more now I do nights just not at night

SpoonBlender · 27/08/2018 04:04

4am and counting, fifth time since last Monday. Was a full working week too. I'm fairly sure I'm messed up from mum dying a few months ago, the mental trouble comes and goes in irregular cycles and shows up in odd ways. I feel okay and cheerful enough, just have this terrible avoidance of going to bed/sleep for some reason I can't work out. Hey ho. Best of luck everyone, hope you all get a good lie in tomorrow.

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/08/2018 04:13

I'm up
Falling asleep or my problem, staying asleep killing me.if I get more than 4solid hours it's a darn miracle.
I don't drink,smoke or havetea/coffee and as I don't drive I walk anything from 1-3hours a day.in theory I should sleep soundly.......

Namechanger1404 · 27/08/2018 04:26

spoon grieving has that effect on the body, so most likely it’s having an impact, sorry for your loss.

I have to be up at 7Confused

constantlywingingit · 27/08/2018 04:33

I'm up and at work. Only 3.5 hours left of a 13 hour shift. We get a long break of 90 mins but if I sleep I turn in to a stroppy cow so I don't bother Grin

Hope you all manage to get some sleep!

PhilomenaButterfly · 27/08/2018 04:37

I've been waking up between 2 and 5 every morning for weeks. I just come on here until the DC wake up. Going to sleep earlier just means I wake up even earlier, making myself stay up until 10.30, doesn't make any difference.

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/08/2018 04:43

Snap Philomena
My youngest is 10 now,but has always been relative early riser (5-6am) so my body clock won't sleep after then
How do you cope with tiredness/lack sleep?if I get too exhausted I resort something sugaryBlush

PhilomenaButterfly · 27/08/2018 04:52

It's worse at the moment Stillliving, DS2 will want breakfast at about 6.30, and I'm deaf so I can't hear him trying to wake me up, so I can't go back to sleep around now. When they're at school, I go shopping after the school run, then hopefully have a nap. I hate the days I have an appointment in another part of London.

lljkk · 27/08/2018 05:33

My day off work & I awoke at 4:45. Boohoo!!!
May sleep again soon (x fingers). I don't relate to anxiety, though. Just bored bored bored awake. Going out this afternoon so can't nap then, maybe tomorrow...

VanillaMapleSyrup · 27/08/2018 05:56

I'm awake but that's because I get up at this time during the week.. My body has forgotten it's Bank Holiday Monday.

PhilomenaButterfly · 27/08/2018 05:57

Also, DH just put his arm round me, there's only ever one reason for this, I told him my alarm was about to go off, he said, "What's that got to do with it?" I said, "An alarm usually means you have to get up," "What do you have to get up for?" "So I can have 50 minutes to get washed, dressed and coffee'd before DS2 comes in demanding breakfast," "There's always an excuse." Hmm Also, if I didn't have to get up, I'd like to go back to sleep.

VanillaMapleSyrup · 27/08/2018 05:59

Gosh, I didn't know you were deaf @PhilomenaButterfly.

VanillaMapleSyrup · 27/08/2018 06:01

Tell MrPhil he can have his way but he then does breakfast duty!

PhilomenaButterfly · 27/08/2018 06:15

Not properly, Vanilla, I need my ears syringed every 6 months. I have hard wax issues.

PhilomenaButterfly · 27/08/2018 06:18

Hahaha. He'd give them something they don't like, or not give DD anything because she doesn't ask. Hmm I make her eat something at 10.

Mosret · 27/08/2018 06:20

Yep it's 6am and I still haven't managed to fall asleep. haven't had a proper night's sleep in about 10 years

Vitalogy · 27/08/2018 06:20

If you're lying in a darkened room resting your body with your eyes closed, this is better than nothing.

QueenoftheNights · 27/08/2018 07:23

Insomnia was the main reason I went onto HRT 11 years ago.
I had two main symptoms; hourly hot flushes which were embarrassing at work, and insomnia. Honestly, if ti's upsetting your life this much, get onto HRT! Lack of sleep is a far bigger health risk than people imagine.

Mummytron · 27/08/2018 13:44

Thanks all
Appreciate you all joining the 'night club' 😁

I definitely need less sleep now I am in Menopause. Flushes come and go.

swingofthings · 31/08/2018 09:40

Insomnia is definitely my worse menopausal symptoms. On hols at the moment and up at 5am every morning woken up by OH going to the toilet and slumping back in bed. He goes soundly back to sleep I'm wide awake. He is now moaning because I'm not rented and full of energy... Using all my energy not to snap at him shouting that I might be more energetic if he was quiet at night and not waking me up!

Tried hrt but it didn't work for me. I did find myself sleeping a bit better the first few days on progesterone but the last week on it made the insomnia much worse as felt so hyped up.
