Hot flushes back

I am taking Elleste Duet 2mg, and find that during the progesterone only (white) tabs my hot flushes return. I have also had a much heaver than usual bleed for the past two months. Am seeing the gp in two weeks, to discuss it, but has anyone else found this? I'm thinking of asking to move to bio-identical hormones, but what do I ask for?

The progestoerone tablets are not only progesterone; they have both hormones in them. The estrogen in Elleste is body identical (drs have stopped using the bio term- it's not accurate they say) so it's only the progesterone you could change. That would be Utrogestan.

you would still get the estrogen from tablets, patches or gel. I hate to say it but you prob won't find changing makes any difference to the bleed. Blood loss is directly related to the amount of stimulation from estrogen so the only way to reduce blood loss is less estrogen- so 1mgs not 2mgs.

Ah you're right about the progesterone tabs. Why would I be having hot flushes when on the grey tabs? i've heard that the oestrogen tabs can be absorbed unevenly, could this be why I'm having hot flushes when on a bleed? Also my sleep is totally out of whack again, and have been getting average of 4 hours a night. It's killing me.The doc put me on 2mg because my hot flushes came back after 4 month on 1mg. Everything was fine and this month it has suddenly all come back.

Progestogen and progesterone do raise body temp (I mean pre-meno but also when used in HRT).

There is no easy answer. You might get on better with gel so you can increase the dose in the 2nd half of each cycle if you need to.
