Awful period pains but no period!

Is this a menopause thing? 🙁

GP has said my hot flushes & anxiety are likely peri menopause related & offered citalopram (I haven’t started taking it) . I had an abalation about 4 years ago due to horrendously heavy periods, so they were very light, painless & only last a couple of days.

They have got a little heavier recently & now coming a little closer together. I’ve now had 3 episodes of awful period pains - having to breathe through them etc. They seem to come every 2 days, but my period finished a week ago!

Has anyone else had this?

Yes it sounds like it. Your GP is completely wrong to offer ADs for menopausal symptoms. FGS what is the matter with these GPs! It's 2 years since the NICE menopause guidelines came out and it says very clearly DO NOT offer ADs for meno unless the women has pre-existing depression and MH issues.

You need HRT not ADs. See another GP. Read the NICE guidelines- they are online.
