oestrogen gel

I've started putting oestrogen gel on my inner thigh. Just been four days so far. The consultant told me to try it out for there months and if it worked/made me feel better have a mirena coil fitted also for progesterone (although I think I'm going to ask for protesterone pills instead). I'm post menopausal.

So far the effects in this very short time are: increased vaginal lubrication (I hadn't noticed I wasn't lubricated until it came back) and return of libido (seems quick effect) and today I walked up the stairs without muscles screaming. However, one of my breast also hurts in a deep achey way.
Is this all normal for starting HRT.

I'm also worried about the gel. I put it on my inner thing (mid way down) and rub my thighs together to spread it (so it's not on my hand) and leave it to dry. Still worried about the gel somehow migrating onto my adolescent and very touchy-feely children though...

Can you see the leaflet in the carton? It's got full instructions there.
I've used it for 11 years by the way. I apply to my upper arms, outer edge. For various reasons I split the dose- so that's 1 pump morning and one at night. I press the pump into my hand, apply half to one arm and half to the other and it dries fast. The instructions say avoid skin to skin contact for 1 hr. Unless your children are climbing onto your naked thighs they are not going to pick it up! Just wash your hands after applying.
Some breast tenderness is common and ought to go away.
