I am a 56 year old woman who has had signs of peri menopause for 10 years! I have been having more or less regular periods up till the last couple of months. I have been having bouts of horrendous headaches and nausea and intermittent dizziness which is why I have been put on HRT. I have suffered from hormonal headaches for the last 10 years but not as bad as this and without the accompanying nausea. I don't have any hot flushes but always feel hot and my mood is fine apart from anxiety about feeling ill when I have nausea and dizziness
I was prescribed HRT 2 months ago but haven't had a period since and it says to start to take within 5 days of a period. I had slight bleeding a week again with cramps so not sure if I should have started then, or just start now or wait until I have a proper period. Also re side effects I'm really nervous about starting as I don't want to feel worse and I see headache and nausea is a symptom. I am on the evorel conti and everol 50 patches to take use a patch to start with
Any one got any advice / experience to share.
Thanks for reading this

HI,
Sorry for the late reply. I was on holiday when I received your message.

Yes I did start them and have been taking half a patch for two months now. Haven't felt a lot difference, but seem to be better on the evorel 50 weeks rather than the conti weeks.

As for side effects, initially I had a low grade headache but that wore off after a few days. Have had subsequent headaches on the conti part but not too bad. Also, sometimes have felt acutely nauseous immediately after applying the patch, but wore off after a few hours. Not every time though.

I would recommend you look on the Menopause Matters website, it's full of really useful information and provides support from people who have experienced peri and menopause themselves.

Good luck!
