I am 42 and have always had my 21 day cycle. Three periods ago l had a very very heavy period, then the next month l had a dream period, l would have periods for the rest of my life if they were that easy. Then this month nothing/ nada/ zilch. In fact l am coming up to my second menstral cycle.

5 pregnancy tests have come back negative (thankgod) and the doctors have just took a whole load of blood from me. I am so emotional and have stomachs cramps like you wouldn’t believe, now that lm thinking about it l haven’t slept well for months.

Is this how it all starts? I cant do with waiting 10 days for my blood tests to come back.

Hope you get some answers from the tests, but it does seem likely. HRT is advised at least until the average age of meno onset, 51. Its really helped my mood, and I was falling asleep on the sofa this afternoon and realised it was prob because I had forgotten to change my patch. I have normal energy again now.

Blood tests aren’t reliable during peri but if you start to have meno symptoms it is likely that you are in peri. You will need hrt for the protection of your overall health. I started meno at 42 and I am on hrt.

My period came today, so at least l don’t have to worry about false negative pregnancy tests.

But now l will need to look into hrt l was thinking about getting the couple so l don’t have to have periods. How will that affect my hormones though.
