Hi everyone

I am new here and have posted on another board about this but now that l have more info, feel that this is perhaps a more appropriate place for it...

So l am 43, have 3 dc - all by c section and have a fairly complex gynae history....

Started bleeding after sex on Saturday - mid-cycle - not happened before.... still going on and has lots of pain with it, though l am used to painful periods. GP examined me and has ordered an urgent pelvic scan to try to determine the cause... should have an appointment within 1-2 Weeks... Anyone had any similar experiences or have any advice/ info that might be of help please. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and am due a smear but find them very difficult. Thanks 🙏

Hi

I am the same age as you and have had the same symptoms, started mid cycle spotting in the autumn, it’s not every month and it can be during ovulation or just before/after period. I’ve also had awful ovulation pain for a couple of years, and day 2 of my period is so painful I can’t leave the house!
I had a scan and they found an endometrial polyp which is being removed soon ☹️. I’ve also been looking through earlier threads on here and so many people have the same symptoms that i think it must be peri menopause!! So try not to panic, it does seem to be normal.

Oh and please don’t miss that smear, I find them very very painful too, but they are so important.

Thank you so much for your reply - it's so reassuring to speak to someone else with similar symptoms. My bleeding subsided after a week but l then passed out at work - possibly due to low iron/blood pressure and the heat?? Have pelvic scan next week so will see what it brings. GP noted how difficult a smear must be when an internal exam was so tricky so will ask at the hospital to see if they have anyone who specialises in tricky women! HmmIf they need to give me any sort of treatment they may be able to do s smear at the same time l assume?
Anyway, thanks again for your response. Hope things are settling for you too... 🙏
