Posted this below in conception. Googled a bit and realised it was perhaps time to look up where the menopause section is on MN... is this perimenopause, the result of breastfeeding all the time for 19mo, or both? Looks like classic perimenopausal endogenous ovarian hyperstimulation...
Since i had DS (19 months) i've mostly been breastfeeding round the clock, so periods have only been back very irregularly.
Before DS I was on the pill for many years, or pregnant or miscarrying, so it's a very long time since I've had a normal period.
20+ years ago (as a mid-teenager) I used to have periods like clockwork, 28 day cycle down to the hour. EWCM and mittelschmerz arrived on day 14 every time. After stopping the pill to TTC I got pregnant by DTD on EWCM days and never had a period, just 5 miscarriages in a row then DS.
Since December (ie 13 months after DS' arrival) I've had several days in a row of EWCM, sometimes with mittelschmerz, then nothing for a couple of weeks, then more EWCM for a few days, then either another couple of weeks + EWCM, or a period about 2 days after the EWCM. The periods are incredibly heavy (filling a Mooncup every 2 hours or so for about 3 days, feel like dying) so I think I'm spending ages in the proliferative phase. The PMT is appalling. On the current cycle I've been producing copious EWCM since day 18 and it's now day 25 with no sign of stopping.
Is it normal to seem to have multiple goes at ovulating before you actually have a period? Is this how people end up with twins in their 40s?
