Has anyone else started bleeding while taking HRT?

Last month I was over a week late and then I started HRT on the first day. Three weeks in and I've been bleeding for over a week.

what sort are you taking?
Had your periods stopped for long before you started HRT? If not it can be your own 'normal' period kicking in. Nothing to worry about. In time the HRT should help to regulate your cycles but if you are early peri and still having periods, this is something that does just happen. HRT doesn't actually stop your periods. After a few months it might control the cycle but not so early on.

I'm taking Femoston. My periods hadn't stopped but they weren't as regular as they used to be. I did think maybe it thinks it's period time but I took tablet number one the day of my (11 days late) period and I've been bleeding for ten days now which is double my normal period length. I had stomach cramps today too for the first time in ages. I never expected the HRT to stop my periods, do some people think it does?, but I didn't know this would happen.

Thank you for your reply.

Are you taking femoston conti or the sequential? I take the sequential femoston but I have tried the conti, the first time I bled pretty much constantly for 3 months, the second time I tried it I bled every 2 weeks!

Apparently bleeding on Femoston conti is very common especially if your periods hadn't stopped before taking it. I think it's only recommended for women who have already stopped having periods.
I hope you manage to find an HRT you get on with.

I don't know tbh. It's two different colours. Today my period is due so I guess I'll have another week of bleeding. It's making me feel a bit yuk.

I'm awaiting a scan to rule out OC so we'll see what's going on soon I hope.

Thank you.

That's the sequential version then. It produces a bleed each month. I get mine toward the end of the grey pills. Glad you're getting it all checked out though, good luck!

Why sayto start on day one of a period if it's going to make me have another one so soon?Confused

I am on Femoston 2/10 too, seq type. My period usually start when I finish the pills with dydrogesterone but it is not always predictable. It takes time for your body to find the new hormonal balance. No reason to worry about.

Your ‘cycle’ will be dictated by the HRT now, although it may be a bit erratic to start with.

Do 'periods' on HRT tend to get lighter & shorter the longer we take HRT?

YearOfYouRemember · 09/06/2018 09:08
