Fibroids shrinking?

Just wondering how many of you have had fibroids which have shrunk around menopause?

I have multiple fibroids and I have had all the usual symptoms over the past coupld of years - heavy periods, stabbing pains, and problems with digestion. These have all disappeared over the past two months (coinciding with 'proper' hot flushes) and I can no longer feel my fibroids - I've even lost 2 lbs, taking me back to my normal weight and my stomach's flat again. Hoping that means they've shrunk - does this tie in with anyone else's experience or should I brace myself for them growing again?

I have no experience with it Paris but I have a friend who is 50 years old and in peri. She has multiple fibroids too and her gyn said to her that they will shrink during meno. She avoided the surgery and she is waiting for her meno! She had no symptoms at all!

Hi Emerald, my GP said they'd 'probably' shrink so I've always been a bit worried they wouldn't but taking the past couple of months as a good sign. I am just praying I don't get another estrogen surge and that my ovaries finally give up!

I recently had an mri for my lower back and it showed 'enlarged uterus due to know fibroids.' This is more proof that I'm peri as if read that during perimenopause they grow but shrink after menopause. Not sure if that helps?

I'm post-menopausal and having what my consultant described as a bulky uterus in 2015, due to fibroids, I am happy to share they do indeed shrink.

Thanks, good to know. Glad I didn't follow advice to have a hysterectomy and waited it out.

I had the bulky uterus too, gyn advised fibroids would shrink so I said no to the hysterectomy and waited it out. No idea what they're like now but will be having pelvic scan in the next few months, so will know more later.

Interested in this as am peri and had an ultrasound to check my ovaries. However due to the two large and 3 small fibroids the sonographer could not visualise my ovaries even on the delightful internal scan!
So know I am wondering how many of the symptoms I've been blaming on the menopause are due to the fibroids
