Best hrt for migraine sufferers?

I can't deal with the hot flushes anymore 😓 I tried one brand of hrt patches, they made me bleed heavily and caused migraines.

My gp doesn't seem to have a clue or really care tbh.

Can anyone tell me a good hrt to ask for that won't cause migraines or bleeding? My last natural period was end of 2016.

I seem to also be very sensitive to I think progesterone - I felt very irritated and sensitive with the progesterone patches.

Thanks

Thanks.

I used to get migraine as part of my fertile cycles- always kicked in just before the bleed. This is caused by falling progesterone I understand. My DD gets it every month on the Pill, too.

I still get it with HRT but not every month. Unfortunately the type of HRT doesn't make much difference. The only thing you can try is continuous HRT (2 hormones every day) which is suitable if you have not had a period for 2 years. You may well get spotting for 6 months and feel headachey until it settles down. I had to give up my trial of continuous because I had daily migraines. I stuck with sequi- still have bleeds in my 60s, but it's all a compromise- nothing's perfect!
Only other tip is use get or patches because they are safer re. blood clots.

I am on Femoston 2/10 and feel good. No side effects, only a bit dizziness at the morning and symptoms free.

Looking back i think my migraines were hormonal too, mostly during and after my period i think. I hadn't had any for a few years, so it was quite a shock when they became almost continuous when taking hrt.

I'm not happy to have a bleed ever month again, as it was extremely heavy and painful.

Any other suggestions?

Looking back, when did you get the migraines and which patch were you on? If you had bleeds that suggests it was a sequi regime so were your headaches at the end of the progestogen phase?
There really isn't a simple asnwer to this- it's trial and error- but it's worth thinking over if sequi or conti is best for you. Conti= progestogesn every day so no good if you find this worse

Yes at the time it was 10 months since my last period so they put me on sequi. The migraines started with the second patch but were more or less ongoing then.
