Is this normal? Does anyone else get bleeding like this?

I will start at the beginning so bear with me ;)
My periods stopped completely in October 2016, bleed free until April 2017 when I started spotting on and off( no period just spotting). It continued for a few weeks then stopped again until June 2017 when I started spotting again and then appeared to have a light period for a few days. This then stopped completely again end of June 2017. I was referred to hospital where I was scanned and found to have a slightly thickened uterine lining of 6mm. The ovaries looked fine and I just had some fluid in the pouch of Douglas which was again fine I was told. In December 2017 I had a biopsy of the uterine lining under G.A. and also a d&c, they also had a little look inside with a camera whilst I was under G.A.
Thankfully everything was fine I was told and I wasn't discharged.
Fast forward to mid April 2018 and I started to spot diluted blood orangey colour after going for a wee on wiping. Then it would be gone again but sometimes there would be some on my knickers (tmi sorry!) this has continued up to now every day only sometimes the blood is red other times brown thick colour like old blood. I also noticed this week that I always have blood on tissue after having a wee and also after opening my bowels. It usually disappears again until the next toilet trip maybe some slight staining on underwear.
I visited the doctor last week but she said she was happy as all was checked out at the hospital with the scan and biopsy of uterine lining. She also said I am perimenopausal although I have not had a normal period for 19 months. I asked for a smear as it is 3.5 years since my last one so I am booked in for that on the 23rd. Apart from that she seems happy with me and I didn't ask her but is this normal then to spot and stain like this after no period for so long. Does this happen to anyone else? I am very worried but have to take the doctors word.
I'm 49 and don't have any other menopausal symptoms no hot sweats nothing.
I just want to know if this happens to others and is it ok to carry on like this? I can't see anything referring to this on here.
Thanks for reading!

All sounds totally normal, you had a light period in June 2017 so not menopausal yet. Many women have spotting at this stage as everything begins to wind down. You've had loads of checks so doing the right thing.
