Menopause

I am 55 and still having regular periods. I have been suffering with crippling anxiety which usually effects me all morning until about midday when it eases off. I was prescribed fluoxetine which did not help and decided to try HRT. My doctor prescribed patches - Evorel. Conti. I was on them for two months and in the last two weeks felt terrible. Bloated, heavy painful breasts, bad skin, breathless and under energised. Perhaps a bit less anxiety but then possibly a bit too busy dealing with the listed symptoms to notice! I went back to GP who said I should try Femoston Conti. I told her I had read that as I had not stopped my periods I thought I should be on sequoia not conti but she said the only difference was that I wouldn’t have periods and why would I want them.
I would really appreciate any advice (if any of you have got to the end of this lengthy missive) before I start Femoston Conti, I now feel unsure of trying that if it’s the wrong thing for me. Help anyone?

conti is for women who have not had a period for a full 12 months or very irregular periods for a while if they are over 54. Not the right sort for you yet.

The reason you feel crap is too much progestogen- your own and that in HRT. Swap to Femoston sequi. She ought to know this!

Thank you. I had a feeling she was wrong! And yes, you would think she would know. GPs really don’t seem to be clued up on menopause and HRT at all.
Thanks for your replies
