Bleeding on HRT

HelloKitty1234 · 12/05/2018 03:40

I have been taking Elleste Continue for about 2 weeks. I have been bleeding in the last 2 days. It has been like having a period. Tried to speak to GP but no appointments available for days. They got one of the nurses from the GP to ring. She says it's not uncommon to bleed.
I had not had a period for 2 years. Does this bleeding mean that I have reawakened my fertility?

I experienced that when I first started taking hrt. I put up with it for ages and when I went back to the GP she was really cross that I hadn't been back straight away. I can't remember which one it was but yours sounds familiar.
It was just unsuitable and after changing the hey I never had another problem.
In short, go back to your GP.
Good luck and don't worry. Pretty normal probably.

The bleeding at the first weeks on hrt is normal and it happens often. Hrt doesn’t give your fertility back.
The bleeding caused by hrt is a ‘faux’ period and it doesn’t mean that your ovaries start to function again properly.

Thank goodness I have not rejuvenated fertility! I will try and get an appointment with the GP to review the HRT. Thanks both.

Did your GP not explain? Bleeding is normal and expected with CONTI HRT for up to 6 months. Read up about it all on Menopause Matters website- under Treatment/ HRT/ cont / post meno HRT

Thank you Queen. I will look at that website. The GP gave lots of info before giving me the HRT so the chances are that I just forgot. Memory really isn't as sharp as it used to be.
