Hi guys
I went to the docs as I was feeling extremely tired and run down so I thought I was going through the menopause and was going on for too long so the doc gave me. Blood test
It come back that I have a low white cell blood count
Asked if I'd had n infection I said no
So being sent for another blood test in 3 weeks
What does this mean as doc was very vague
Thankyou In advance

I had "borderline" white blood cells (and also borderline platelets) but they didn't say what that meant either!

I had low white count at my annual check-up last year, and did a retest which was normal.
I didn't think I had had an infection/cold or anything, but maybe it was under my radar?

Hopefully a retest will come back normal Flowers

But I do feel excessively tired and although my health is fine no illness as such
I am shattered all the time
Could fall asleep standing up
So something isn't right x

It really depends how low it was. Mine often come back a bit low, but my GP said that it didn't mean anything, what would worry him is a sudden drop.

It's also possible to have an infection without knowing it. I have an 'silent' abscess which sometimes comes alive a bit, so that would be enough to trigger my body to need to fight it and reduce my white blood cells.

Low white blood cells would be more concerning also alongside other results, such as liver/kidney function.

If he asked for a retest in 3 weeks, he isn't overly concern at this stage, but clearly needs to see that it goes back up if more than borderline low.

Yes I had liver/kidney test with blood and came back fine
Fingers crossed I start to feel less tired and my count goes back up
