Depo Provera and menopause

I was on the Depo Provera contraception injection for quite a number of years during which, after the first few months, my periods stopped completely. I came off it briefly but had such bad periods that my doctor put me back on it and I remained on it for another few years. During this time I had no periods at all.

I was advised to come off it when I reached 50 which was last summer. After that I had one period of about 4 days about 6 weeks after the injection would next have been due and another about 3 months after that which only lasted about 3 days. I've had nothing for the last 5 months.

My question is, how do I know if this lack of periods is just a continuation of the effects of the Depo, or is because of the menopause? Has anyone else been in the same situation please?

This might help

Sounds like you're going through perimenopause and in the final stages. You could have still have another few periods so don't worry if you do - menopause will be after a full 12 months without a period.
