My story is that I am on hrt, full menopause confirmed by bloods at the docs and no periods since October 2016 - am now 47, 48 next year, struggling with symptoms so am taking hrt, can't lose any weight despite lots of effort, hot flushes, barely sleeping and palpitations, doc referred me to a dietician plus endocrinologist, endo has been cancelled 3 times so far so still waiting, dietician this week, gp suggested that if I wanted to stop taking hrt in feb I could, 48 hours after i started bleeding, bled for about 10 days then stopped. Since then I am getting random spotting, dark brown blood not bright red - tmi I know but had sex on Saturday bleeding today, not heavily but it is there. Is this normal? Should I try to see my gp or wait for the endo appt which is supposedly in a couple of weeks?

It’s quite usual to bleed after stopping hrt and I think that it’s not a reason to worry. However it is good to talk to your gyn and have a scan just in case.

I'd definitely mention to your GP, perhaps a telephone consultation. Don't ignore and don't delay either. Post menopausal bleeding of itself usually warrants further investigation.( But I'm not sure what impact stopping hrt has, your GP should know)

@emerald and @toldmy Thanks for your replies - I will try and get a telephone consultation with my go today if possible

Sorry I should have said I went back on the HRT because I bled, eventually the bleeding stopped but since then the odd bleeding has been happening.
