So I've bitten the bullet and found a specialist in my area as the gps don't want to know.

Anyone seen someone privately and can offer some advice on what to expect please?

It should be just the same but better as seeing a GP! Tell them how you feel, what worries you etc. The difference is you will get more time. First appt they may (but only may) want to examine you or take some blood. I've only had 1 blood test in years of seeing a consultant and that was at first appt to check hormones, calcium and Vit D, iron etc. Also had a scan which found an ovarian cyst (benign thank goodness.) But they are all different and if you don't like them or don't 'click' you don't need go back- your money, your choice who you see.
