Can't get Estrogel...

Apparently there's an issue with the manufacturer.
I've been to all the local chemists, no-one can fill the prescription.

Now waiting for a consultants appointment as my GP won't prescribe an alternative.

Are there alternative estrogen HRT gels in the UK?

I've literally had enough of HRT, menopause & doctors!Sad

I’m not in UK but I tried to find oestrogel at my country too and my pharmacist said that there are no supplies anymore...until August! So I’m on tablets for avoiding the trouble.

I posted a week ago about this issue. There is an alternative - the gel comes in individual sachets. I’ll check out the name for you.

reup · 10/04/2018 23:09

It’s called Sandrena and it comes in 1mg sachets.

reup · 10/04/2018 23:11

I’m just reading the instructions now and it can also come in 0.5mg sachets.

reup · 10/04/2018 23:12

It has slightly different instruction for use than my pump of gel - only on lower body and on different sides each night.

I seem to end up being given Oestrodose most times, apparently same as Estrogel ingredient wise but I am not sure if I totally agree with that.
If you can source some of the Oestrodose it will tied you over.

Also try independent chemists if you can find one, Boots have monopolised our area and I am always getting supply problems with them.

Thankyou.

I think I might stop the whole HRT thing. Really struggling with the progesterone side. I've been on Femoston and now Estrogel & progesterone. The side affects of the progesterone outweight the benefits of the Estrogel.

Totally in the horrors tonight. Screaming and shouting. So depressed, its day 10 of progesterone. Its so not worth it.

Thankyou for your responses.

I go to an independent chemist and they say it’s a countrywide issue.

That sound awful.for you Nicky.

I haven’t found the hrt I’ve been on at all effective for my mood/depression or achey body. And I’ve started night sweats recently too which I didn’t have before.

Hi,
Same issues. Get given Oestrodose instead of oestrogel which Studd prescribed. Definitely not as good for me. Very liquid and takes ages to dry.

Anyway, apparently the ingredients come from Asia and the gel is manufactured in Belgium. There is a problem with the sourcing of the ingredients. Saw a French gynae yesterday who told me that the gel has started to come back two weeks ago in France. I wonder how long it will take for the gel to reach the UK.
There is a Spanish equivalent, can find out.

I am also fed up with all the contradictory protocols regarding progesterone . One says 7 days x 100mg; another says 10 days x 100mg. I also heard 12-14 days x 100mg. Different countries have different protocols! Vaginally? Orally? 21 days of combined oestragel and progesterone to give a rest to the breasts! Etc ..

I just have not got a a clue who to trust. All I know is that I am scared of endometrial cancer or the likes....
What are your protocols? May be a thread on this might be useful, what do you think?

There was an issue with supply of mine a month or so ago (through Boots) but the last one was ok.
