Periods still going strong (very fucking strong). Midcycle stretchy egg white mucous today.

Anyone else in peri hell ?

Ah yeah - goes on for a while for some. The oft quoted 'average' is 51, so if you consider that a lot of women have menopause in their early 30s, it also figures that a lot will have their's later, in their 50s. There was a thread on menopause matters for over 55s for a while but I think they all eventually dropped out.

Occasionally someone has a baby in their very early 50s. I looked at the abortion figures and there were about 28 abortions in an over 50s classification in one year. The oldest natural mother is 59.

That would be if I had unprotected sex. I swear I would conceive.

I read somewhere that it is so unlikely to get pregnant at 55 that you can ditch the contraception then (apart from the 59 year old of course - I suppose there is no way of predicting that one.)

I have ditched it at 54 [ooooeeeeeeeerr] I was getting very frequent periods at 51 before I started HRT, but hadn't had the mucus for a few months.

I got quite paranoid as have had babies easily, so I searched my family tree. It was no help as they seem to have been quite together with using contraception (or the father died - or emigrated in one case)

I am so over all this, tbh
