Do I need HRT?

I have a slightly complicated history mostly due to being underweight with anorexia for the past 18 months and some gynae issues in the past.
I stopped ovulating around a year ago due to weight loss but hadn't had a monthly bleed since an endometrial ablation in 2015.
I had blood tests done last month which showed I was post menopausal, but I 'd had a scan in the summer which showed I had ovulated so I was a bit surprised. Can you be post menopausal in a matter of a few months? My cholesterol was also high.
I'm struggling with bladder pain, repeated thrush and night sweats. Plus major brain fog....
Am also at risk for osteoporosis - I am waiting for results of a Dexa bone scan.
My GP has just prescribed vagifem to help with the bladder/thrush issues.
Should I ask for full on HRT and is there any type which would be better for me? There is so much info out there I am struggling to take it in....
Is there anything else I need to consider?
TIA

I think you need to DEXA scan. as you may know, anorexia puts you at a higher risk of osteoporosis. You are also at a higher risk by being post menopausal at 46 ( 5 years sooner than the UK average.)

How were you able to pinpoint when you stopped ovulating (out of interest)?

Yes, you can go from having a final period / ovulation to being post meno. ONE cycle has to be the last :)

Although HRT is not prescribed as the first treatment for bone density in younger women, you will get the benefits if you use it for your other symptoms.

Hard to advise which one will suit- it's really a case of trial and error. Some women swear by some types, others hate them...it's so hard to give brands.

Thanks Polly
Have had a Dexa scan, waiting for results.
I used to have bad ovulation pains so I knew when I wasnt ovulating.
I do wonder if I am truly menopausal or if its more just to do with being malnourished and ovaries having packed up. But not sure that would give me high FSH levels in a blood test. Or the other issues like bladder issues and night sweats (have low blood sugar problems which can also cause night sweats though).
Do you think its worth seeing a private doctor?
Family average age is mid 50s for menopause so I am early but it could be caused by the anorexia. Hard to know and hard to get much out of my GP....
