constant bleeding and breast pain

Ive been bleeding now for over 3 weeks, a few days of spotting before period a four day period and light flow for the past 17 days.
I'm 44 I've have had mid cycle bleeding a few years ago but nothing like this. I also have very tender breasts and have woken up in the night with pain. Could this be peri menopause? Anyone else had similar symptoms?

I'm 47 and missed two or three periods then had a couple of days of very light (barely there) bleeding followed by two weeks of v v heavy bleeding, flooding and clots.

This then became lighter bleeding and now daily brown discharge with some light bleeding at times. (Just over 6 weeks in total)

I have been referred by my gp for an ultrasound so might be worth you making an appointment.

If the breast pain continues I recommend Star flower Oil capsules from Holland & Barrett.

Thank you for the comments I had an ultrasound scan yesterday. They only scanned my abdomen I was expecting a vaginal scan. I'll call my gp next week and see what the results are.
YearofYou thank you i have been taking starflower for a few months now and have just started on Maca to help balance hormones.

Hi greatest glad you've got scan out of the way. Has the bleeding stopped now?

Greatestshowlady · 16/03/2018 19:37

Yes it has dahliaaa lasted for five weeks don't want to experience that again!

Your GP might offer you the Mirena coil to stop the bleeding. Worth considering as this could go on for a few years. Yes it's peri meno. Loads online about it.

EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic · 16/03/2018 20:35

I was going to suggest the Mirena too. I used to have long and heavy periods and barely notice mine now. If yiu e been bleeding for so long, have you been taking an iron supplement like Spatone?

dahliaaa · 16/03/2018 21:06

I second taking spatone. I was anaemic and hated the iron tablets from gp. Spatone every day got my levels up.

Greatestshowlady · 17/03/2018 13:16

I have taken spatone before i must get some more. PollyPerky yes the coil has been mentioned i just wanted to rule out any other issues before having one fitted.

My ultrasound results came back today doctors receptionist called and asked me to book in to see gp told me it was not urgent and offered an appointment in 3 weeks!!
Not sure i can make it that long they wouldn't discuss anything over the phone. Last time I had an ultrasound they told me over the phone everything was fine. Wondering what they've found must be something!
Confused

I was going to say join my club!! Pretty much constant spotting (had womb ablation years ago so no proper periods) and pretty much constant mastalgia to an agonising or lesser extent for months if not years Sad

dahliaaa · 20/03/2018 18:53

It's good that they haven't made you an urgent appointment :-) (they will always make an appointment available if there is something sinister) but if it feels like a long time to wait does your surgery offer phone appointments so that you can have an earlier quick chat through the results ?
