www.menopausematters.co.uk
You could try searching on the above forum private clinic recommendations frequently come up.
What treatments have you tried so far?

PollyPerky · 06/03/2018 21:06

Just be careful with the M Matters list- it's slightly out of date.

If you have vaginal atrophy has your GP offered you treatment?

PollyPerky · 06/03/2018 21:07

Sorry NK I thought you meant the list of clinics that are under the Specialist heading on the menu, not the posts on the forum.

OPTHis isn't Manchester but it's Solihull- and you don't need a referral. There might be info on the site anyway.

Thanks for the responses. I've been using Vagifem since I came off HRT about 3 years ago). Lately I've been using YES moisturisers which have made me more comfortable generally but intercourse is still way out of the equation and has been for a long time. GP examined me last week - was very painful and she agreed seeing a gynae would be a good idea. Prefer to go locally. There are a few people mentioned but just wondered if anyone had specific experience of any of them.

How many times a week do you use the Vagifem?

PollyPerky · 06/03/2018 22:50

why did you come off HRT? Was it your decision ? There is no time limit now to using HRT unless you had a medical condition.

How often are you using Vagifem? The dose in it has changed from 25mgs to 10 mgs and consequently some women seem to be finding they have to use it daily rather than twice a week to get any improvement.

The only thing any dr can offer you for VA is a) systemic HRT again PLUS Vagifem b) more Vagifem per week or c) dilators to stretch the vagina gradually, used with HRT.

Sympathies OP

I travel to the Birmingham women's hospital because of the amazing and wonderful menopause clinic there - I had my GP refer me.
I'm nowhere near Birmingham but the journey is well worth it.

There is a wonderful Menopause specialist nurse who knows her stuff. She was speaking to me just recently about how frustrating it is that women have to suffer without treatments when they need help.

It may be worth trying for a referral?
