Continuous v Sequential HRT

I am 48 and it’s been almost two years since my last period. Things weren't too bad till about 6 months ago and then it hit me like a truck.

I recently saw my GP who did a blood test to check its not my thyroid or something else and she said if not she would be happy to prescribe Continuous HRT.

Blood test was fine, but GP then said she had researched further and that women who go on Continuous HRT less than 3 years after last period are more likely to have erratic bleeding and therefore she thinks it would be better for me to go for Sequential with a regular bleed.

I have googled and can't find this "research" anyone know of it or been told similar?

I have been prescribed Elleste Duet 1 mg and have just started today. Bit disappointed that I will be having monthly bleeds again. But was she right to do this?

I have since read that having the Progesteren element separately does help with side effect monitoring, so I wonder if she had this in mind?
