if you are past the menopause?
I had the mirena coil and had it removed after a year of no periods, a year later still none.
i don't use any BC. i feel fine.

I'd like to know this too.. I've not had periods for years due to the mirena and wondering when I can have it removed.
A friend mentioned that she thought that there was a blood test available to check hormone levels?
Following..

i had a test a few years back and at that time I wasn't peri
but i think due to my age and the year with no periods(i did have them up till then and spotting) I was at the right stage to have it removed.
I know that the mirena masks the menopause a bit.
its just working out if its over.....or still to come.

A Mirena will stop periods but it won't stop things like hot flushes and other meno symtpoms.

If you are over 50 and no natural period for year then you don't need contraception.

You may get other meno symptoms further down the line; things like flushes can be short term in some women (but not in others.)

I had mirena fitted because I have a fibroid that caused spotting and I gynae suggested it which stopped it but at 56 i am coming up to my 4th year on it how long will hormones in last for any ideas

I dont think its a silly question. I dont have the mirena issue but my menopause symptoms are relatively mild (no hot flushes to speak of) but no periods for over two years so assuming menopause is over or I'm in it or...something. I do have symptoms so know I am but ...is there a finish line? (and a space blanket? )
