Just started these. I am wondering how long until they start to take effect. A little alarmed by the list of common side-affects, which seemed to include much of what I was trying to address. Any advice please, Polly or other knowledgeable peeps? TIA

I did a bit. Not sure if that's cos I'm a bit of a pig, or because of the hrt. Officially, the line is you won't gain, but anecdotally people say you do.

Yea I have only been taking for 10 days but am a bit bloated. The scales went up 2lb but then the next day went down 2lb! so I know its fluid, but still annoying because my clothes feel tight around my waist! Hopefully it will sort itself out. My dr said as soon as I start feeling better in myself it should be easier to shift the few excess pounds I have gained. I saw him this morning and he said I shouldn't get my bleed until I have finished the green pills and my normal cylce is 5-6 weeks anyway so I will probably be fine!! It's a bit of a minefield trying to feel ok about it all and looking forward to feeling better so I can get back to normal!

Optical migraine

At the start of my menopause I got these regularly but stopped a year ago. Today one appeared out of nowhere. Does this mean I need to look at increasing my HRT

Hi I’ve just read your post which I know is an old one, did you carry on taking the elleste? I’ve been on it 7 days and feel horrendous, stomach ache, nausea, indigestion etc , losing weight as I can’t eat? Thanks

coffeeisaddictedtome · 20/02/2019 19:38

Hi Kate1970 ohhhhh I'm just plucking up the courage to get myself to the doctor and ask about HRT . Sick of feeling rubbish but don't want to feel worse ! I'm a 1970 baby too , periods still regular but lots of other symptoms and feel horrendous the week before ! Tired but then can't sleep, mind racing and feeling low and if I eat or drink anything hot I totally melt in a burning rage !!! 🙄 oh the joys

I’ve got really bad stomach pains, no appetite, down to 7 1/2 stone , was nearly 8 three weeks ago, I’m literally pacing the floor , I’m hoping the doctor will ring me tomorrow and advise me , I haven’t been suffering with hot sweats more anxiety, not sleeping and burning mouth syndrome of which I was told hrt would help and whether it’s coincidence has been a bit better , I really didn’t expect to feel this ill so soon after taking them , thought I might once I started the green tablets , I can honestly say I’ve never felt so poorly , I’ve asked a lot of my work colleagues who are a similar age or older and none of them have ever considered going onto it , my sister had the patches for a while and said she had no side effects, she’s 59 , however had irregular bleeding and some breast issues so came off them .

At age 55 I started on HRT due to bone pain worsened by menopause. I started on Elleste Duet conti 2mg. I then had irregular bleeding and over a couple of years which was investigated by gynae, had 2 hysteroscopies, have numerous fibroids and had one moved during second hysteroscopy. Irregular bleeding still continued, until another gynae consultant said maybe it was the hrt and I might be better off on Elleste duet 1 mg and this was the answer. Now I get a small monthly bleed which is meant to happen on the 1 mg dose but the conti was causing the irregular bleeding for 2 years, it didn't agree with me. Although the 1 mg dosage is lower than the conti it suits me fine and have been on it for 4 years now and it really helps relieve arthritis.

Hey , im 42 with 3 kids, ive just been told im going through early menapause, the doctor has given me Estelle 1mg , im on my 1st packet , the white tabs made me feel fantasic and back to my normal self i was so happy , i started the green tabs and after 2 days i started to feel panicky and had palpatations , bloated and feeling sickly every day, do you think its just my body getting usto them ? Or will i feel like this every month after taking the green tabs, sorry im new to all this and i was hoping someone would tell me that it only happens for the first month , dont think i could cope with it every month 😏

Im on day 4 of elleste duet and woke up today with a cracking migraine and feel sick, has anyone else experienced this? I spoke to the doctor who said stop it and try again next month?? Not sure what to do!!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 09/04/2019 16:55

I've never felt sick on it tbh, so don't know what to suggest. Whether it's teething problems or just doesn't suit? Maybe a word with your doc or we'll woman clinic? I've had to stop taking them as I couldn't get them! Already struggling to get another medication I need so felt I had to focus on that one. Can't actually say I feel any worse at the moment and on the plus side haven't had a bleed since.
