FSH test whilst on HRT.

Last Monday my GP sent me for an FSH test. I've been on Femoston for 3 months. Feel no better & reacting badly to the progesterone. Each month has got worse.

GP told me to not start a new pack. Have the blood test & return next week.

I'm 44. If i was a few years older i probably wouldn't even bother but I'm worried about osteoporosis & heart disease.

My question is how reliable is an FSH test whilst on HRT?

What else can i do?
I really really don't want a coil. Are there better progesterone preparations on the NHS?

You can't have an FSH when on HRT ; it won't be accurate. You'd need to wait at least 6-8 weeks. (Blood tests while on hormonal treatments are discussed in the NICE guidelines- have a read- all online.)

There is little point testing you if you are showing meno symptoms.

The best way forward now is estrogen gel- you can use from 1 to 4 pumps a day so you work out what helps by trial and error, yourself - give each dose a couple of weeks or more. Then for the progesterone part you take 200mgs Utrogestan (micronised natural progesterone) at bedtime for 12 days per cycle.

Ask your dr for it- many don't know it exists.
