Gel and tablets dosage

Reading another thread when dosages of theses were mentioned I wondered what people started on?

I have been given one pump a day of oestrodose. The dose is 1.25g - it’s 0.06% gel (0.75mg of
Oestriodol) .

The tablets are one a day of utrogestan (progesterone 100mg). But inside the packaging it says to take 2 a day for half a cycle!

After trying tablets and patches with various problems I really want this to work!

Let us know how u get on Reup

reup · 26/01/2018 07:08

Another question!

How long on average does it take to kick in? I know it’s usually a 3 month trial to start with but presumably you feel better before that? I imagine it doesn’t work at all for some as well.

For me, starting on the gel - i felt better within 4 days.
I am not sure if this is placebo effect but i am taking it.

I had a blip recently but i think that is more personal circumstances than HRT not working.

RU feeling anything? ru using 2 pumps?

reup · 27/01/2018 12:07

I’m using 2 but haven’t felt that better. The odd glimmer but then some very dark moods too. I’ll keep going- but I presume there are some women for whom it doesn’t work.

Hi Reup - Polly always says give it 3 months to really get into your system.

My 'blip' has been going on a while and i am feeling really low, tearful, sad, angry... you name it.
I know HRT isn't a miracle cure but i am really hoping to stabilise a bit more than this.

How ru?

reup · 14/02/2018 22:31

That’s so annoying as you were doing so well. What a pain.

I think I feel a little bit better but not hugely so but it hasn’t done anything for waking early or achey joints. Also my psoriasis is flaring up which is always depressing.

reup- are you using 2 pumps? If not you should increase to the normal dose of two. If after 2-3 weeks this is still not alleviating your symptoms, you should then try 3 pumps. How often and how much Utrogestan are you using?

PollyPerky · 15/02/2018 08:36

Also- where are you applying the gel? It should be either upper arms (towards the back of your arm so it doesn't get onto your breasts, or your upper inner thighs.) If it's not working with one, maybe try another site ( if you've always done arms, try thighs.)
Might also be worth exfoliating your skin in case it's a bit dry and this is stopping the gel being absorbed. Don't apply gel after any body lotions etc and don't swim or shower for an hour afterwards.

reup · 16/02/2018 15:59

I’ve been on 2 pumps for month or so and am applying it on upper arms - but I might try the exfoliating thing. I could try 3.

I switched to 2 ustrogestan tablets for 12 days at the beginning of Feb I was doing one a day for about 28 days before that, then I gave it a break for a few days and had a period. But I started the 2 a day straight after that mostly so I could have a period mid month instead of at the end and also I thought I had more of a fighting change of remembering when to start the meds if it was on the 1st of the month. Also am going away for a few days at the start of April and fancied not having a period as some of mine have been so heavy and painful.

I think I feel slightly less bleak but not exactly chipper!

Thanks you two!

Ive tried 3 for the last week or so and have started having night sweats but no mood improvement.

Also haven’t managed to reset my period which is a bit irritating.

Just an update as polly and Kalifornia have been so helpful. Am on 3 pumps but sadly no difference or my mood. Also the last week I’ve developed night sweats. It’s so odd I don’t wake up hot or sweaty but my duvet is damp. It’s so gross and takes me ages to get back to sleep and I still wake up way too early so mostly feel like the walking dead!

Any idea on non hrt ways to improve my mood? 😁. Not yoga/meditation though - I’ve tried that!

Exercise, fresh air, good diet, sunshine, good night's sleep, time for yourself, reduce stress in life, new activities, take up a new interest, live music.....make a list?!

Can't help with the sweats - normally an increase in oestrogen is indicated if sweats increase or restart. Maybe you are not absorbing the gel very well? Have you had other tests eg thyroid function, blood sugar etc to rule out other causes of sweats and overheating?

reup · 25/03/2018 20:53

Thanks, I never had night sweats before. Have been on gel and tablets for almost 3 months. Am type 2 diabetic but last blood test last week was fine. I think I had thyroid done last summer when I changed gps. No sweats/flushes in the daytime.

It’s so hard to do any of these things when you’re feeling fed up though! I’ve been waking early (4-6am) for a year or so- would love to sleep better.

I’m absorbing the gel enough to gave achey breasts - unless that’s the the progesterone. I’ll go back to gp but not v confident there because of the ways these meds were prescribed.
