Heart stmptoms: fast heartbeat and unsettled

Anyone get this? Especially at night time? My heart feels fast and like it's pounding out of my chest. With this comes a feeling of uneasiness.

Yes, I got this in the peri stage, got prescribed 25mg of atenolol after seeing a cardiologist, but it only really improved when I started full HRT.

Mummytron · 27/12/2017 18:13

I saw a cardiologist who has requested I be referred for my hormones as I'm 42 and in Peri stage. Out of interest what did you cardiologist say about it? Thanks for replying

yep

gp put me on sertraline - works a treat

Kahlua4me · 27/12/2017 21:33

I saw a cardiologist for the same symptoms and only outcome was my chance of having a heart attack in next 10 years was 1%!

Have had lots of tests and it seems to be all menopause related and anaemia. What joy 😀

mummytron he said hormone fluctuations were probably causing the palpitations.

Mummytron · 28/12/2017 00:27

I wondered about fluctuations. I'm laying here now and it's horrible. It's the worst symptom for me

It’s always worse at night.

I am lying here wondering whether to go to a&e although knowing it doesn’t warrant a trip and would be wasting their time. But equally not knowing how to stop it or stop the worry that it may be serious...

NK346f2849X127d8bca260 · 28/12/2017 00:45

I always got them at night, awful when they wake you up with a jump.

NK346f2849X127d8bca260 · 28/12/2017 00:47

kahlua has your anaemia been treated now?

Kahlua4me · 28/12/2017 00:51

Well it had as put on iron tablets. I then had another blood test and was told all was ok so I foolishly stopped taking them. I now think I should have stayed on them.

Feeling quite bad now though. I woke up with a start and can’t seem to settle now. Part of me wants to go to a&e but I also know it’s a waste of time, but don’t know how to calm down.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 28/12/2017 01:23

its typical meno anxiety - see your gp :)

Mummytron · 28/12/2017 21:58

I feel your pain. Deep down I know it's nothing life threatening but still scary.
