Wrong patch!

Hi I wonder if anyone can help? I have just started on hrt and been prescribed the evorel sequi patches. I didn't read the instructions properly and stupidly used the wrong patch. At the start of my cycle a few days ago I used the conti with the progersterone instead of the everol 50. Will I have mucked things up? Argh! Any advice or reassurance gratefully recieved!

No just revert to the right ones now. You might get a slightly later bleed or none at all this month but no real issues.

Thanks so much for replying, I really appreciate it. I am still having regular periods so worried I have totally confused my body! I just managed to speak to the doctor and she wasn't sure what to do so suggested leaving it until my next cycle to start again but do you think best to carry on now and use the everol 50? Will I have done myself any harm? Feel so confused by the whole issue and obviously reading the instructions properly in the first place would have helped!

Honestly no, all you might get is a tiny bit of bleeding now or in a few days time when the progestogen leaves your system (cos it's designed to do that). If it's a 28 day cycle and you have used a combi patch for a few days , just carry on now with the estrogen only. You will have run out of combi patches for the latter part of this cycle though so will need to take them out of the next month's.

Ah I see! Thanks again for your help

How many patches have you used? If you are still having regular periods and are following your own cycle, you will likely have your own period by the end of the pack in which case hold off using any extra combi patches.

Have just used one, started them on Sunday then realised today I had out the wrong one on!

so only one? And then Monday to today you have had estrogen only? That is really no issue at all. You will have had a tiny amount of progesterone. It's not relevant. Really.

Hi , I have also started the patches the wrong way round and started taking straight way instead of waiting for my period , I had a 6 day bleed after 5 days , I’m a month in now and not sure what to do , I didn’t read the instructions properly as only picked up half of my prescription and got totally confused with the advice given , I’m not sure what to do so I’m just going to carry on , iv had massive water retention and feel edgy waiting for next period as I’ll be out of synch with natural cycle , is this the right thing to do or should I stop taking , wait for next bleed and start from the beginning ?

I am such a fool,🥴Started Evorel sequi on Friday and just realised ive had the Conti one on first? Will it be ok?ive just got out the bath and changed to Evorel 50,hope i haven't messed up things?

Farmgurl · 21/11/2022 16:15

Hi there. I am wondering did this ever resolve itself KKT1234? I know it's an old thread, but I have done something similar and am curious. I was misprescribed the wrong patch and was taking Everol Conti for 3 months instead of sequi. When i realized the pharmacist had made a mistake I switched to Sequi straight away (probabaly should have waited in line with a cycle of something) and not only that but I mixed up the 50 and the conti. I have been having AWFUL mood swings and feel terribly depressed....and that is not in my nature at all. I'm hoping will level out shortly.🤞

@Farmgurl
I know this an old thread but did you start to feel better?
I have done the same thing and went to the Endocrinologist in tears and not right. im so embarrassed 😣

I took the 3 months trial time and stopped about a week ago
Hope you feel better x

Nerdplantlady · 02/03/2023 22:39

@KKT1234 did the same thing :/
I have stopped taking them fully untill I feel I am mentally stable

Farmgurl · 03/03/2023 11:44

Hi @Nerdplantlady thanks for replying! It took ages to settle down and I was having abdominal discomfort for AGES after I started on the Sequi. I definitely don't feel as down, and don't seem to be losing the plot as much. It seems to be a little better now, but back to monthly periods which I'm kind of sick of. I'm not sure what HRT is doing for me TBH. I have osteopenia so it's a good idea from that perspective, but as far as wonderful night's sleeps and glowing hair, and boundless energy that other people talk about....afraid not! 🤔

Nerdplantlady · 03/03/2023 18:26

Im glad your feeling a little better, if you have your peirod back its a good sign for your hormoans are back to a normal ?, not so good with having them though. Are you going with an alturnative instead or are you just waiting and seeing ? just wondering with your osteopenia, does Vitamin D help ?

I only started taking it a few months ago, think about 2 1/2 month on and stopped as soon as i had these horrendious mood swings and its been around 3 days and starting to feel like my self again. back to bad sleep so thats a normal for me but got offerd the coil and im just kinda like nooope right now and just waiting for a couple of months to work out i should do.
