Femoston Conti - bleeding

runningtogetskinny · 16/11/2017 22:41

I have been on Femoston Conti 0.5/2.5 for 3 months, I had a slight bleed 2 weeks in then nothing since. I feel great on it and saw GP last week and was given 6 month supply. She said if I had any more bleeding to go back as might need gynae investigation to see why. Typically today I have started bleeding. Does anyone know if this is quite common? I’d rather give it the 6 months to settle down than go straight back? I’ve just turned 50 and had no periods for 2 1/2 years. Any advice gratefully received

this is from the patient leaflet. I just found it by googling the product. You can find out more if you put various words into a search engine.

Taking oestrogen-only HRT will increase the risk of excessive thickening of the lining of the womb (endometrial hyperplasia) and cancer of the womb lining (endometrial cancer).
The progestogen in Femoston-conti protects you from this extra risk.
Irregular bleeding
You may have irregular bleeding or drops of blood (spotting) during the first 3-6 months of taking Femoston-conti. However, if the irregular bleeding:
carries on for more than the first 6 months
starts after you have been taking Femoston-conti for more than 6 months
carries on after you have stopped taking Femoston-conti
see your doctor as soon as possible.

Pollyperky you’re a star! I should have looked it up, thanks I’ll give it another 3 months and hopefully won’t need to return to GP about it. I don’t appear to have any negative side effects and my hot flushes and night sweats have disappeared! Thank you

Hi runningtogetskinny
I get the waiting 6 mths thing totally. I was on Fem 7 patches and had 1 bleed. I was made to have a Hysteroscopy, and 3 biopsies one of which resulted in the worst Urine infection ever! I was changed to Evorel Conti and again had 1 bleed. The doctor is putting heavy pressure on me but I am refusing to do it again as I know you can have bleeding in the first 6mths. I am now off all patches as allergic to glue and about to start Femoston 2/10 if I can ever get courage to do it! Stick to your guns and tell them you want to wait, provided of course there are no other risk factors. Good luck

Thanks Vintage I did have a couple more bleeds but nothing now for about 3 months. Due back at GP next month so hopefully no action to take. Good luck with the Femoston, hope it suits you
