Cramps

Hi ladies

I think I’m in peri but not had tests or anything like that. Periods now average 26 days but can arrive 23-28, last 3 days, only day 2 is heavy.

Have night sweats, bit of cramping before AF but not much, bloaty and slightly sore/heavy boobs.

Currently day 21 of my cycle and I’ve had a bout of god-awful cramps. 3 lots lasting about 30 secs with 5 mins in between. What’s made me ask is I can honestly say they were worse than birth contractions. Felt really tight and took my breath away. This is new to me and is it a typical symptom?

Abdomen still feels tender but cramps have stopped.

Oh and I’m 45.

Thanks Smile

Hi @PollytheDolly have you ever had any gynae checks for fibroids etc? The sweating sounds typical peri / pms but is this an unusual symptom for you? Do you have any other symptoms like discharge? Just asking on the off chance it could be a sign of infection! Have you checked your temp? But if not, I would guess you are ‘at that age’ where your fluctuating hormones can bring on new menstrual symptoms or exacerbate any existing ones that might cause you some troubles. I had ovarian cysts which were never an issue before peri. They thought I had endometriosis that had suddenly come to the fore because of my peri hormones. You might just be gearing up for a heavy bleed but given these are unusual symptoms you might want to check in with your doc to rule out bladder infection and perhaps get a gynae referral. Particularly because the pain is so extreme. X
