I'm 51, still getting periods but very irregular

no hot flushes...yet....

but I've noticed over the last year my memory isn't what it was, I used to pride myself on being really sharp but recently if something isn't vitally important to me I just forget it.....as I have health anxiety I've been googling dementia.....am also very anxious and an awful worrier

is not having a great memory part of the dreaded meno?

what I mean is, I always feel distracted, like I have so bloody much to remember and nowadays I just cant remember everything like I used to

or just a sign of getting older.
Coz men seem to get scattier with age, too.
But someone will be along soon to say that all health problems after age 40 in women is due to our hormones. Oh -- and HRT cures them all, too. Magic!!

Snap ssd - same age, same crappy memory, same anxious googling of dementia. Sad

i do believe we're 'normal' though.

Same here if that's any consolation. I sometimes struggle to remember words too and invariably call something 'thing'. The proper name for it goes straight out of my head.

Have been on HRT for a year. It may not have improved my memory but it has been a godsend for other symptoms. Smile

thanks

its a bugger this peri lark isnt it

my bladder is playing up too...Sad

I'd take HRT in a heartbeat if I needed it but I dont yet, my mum swore by it

The nurse at the GPS told me brain fog is definitely a symptom (I'm also 51). She also said that getting flustered when having to make decisions is a classic symptom - this is ME.

I was trying to remember ‘screen shot’ today and said ‘face plant’ instead. If it isn’t peri m, it’s early onset Alzheimer’s (or stupidity....take your pick)

Mxyzptlk · 21/11/2017 20:31

I thought I was really on the downward slope when this happened. But it did improve again, so hope for the best. Smile

I have started taking menopace supplments, and magnesium
