Reasons not to be able to use HRT

There have been quite a number of posts here where posters say they cannot use HRT. In many cases, this is based on misinformation by them or their GP.

The only absolute reasons not to use HRT are

recent stroke or heart attack
recent breast cancer
recent / current serious liver disease
active blood clots in lung/leg

If this applies, then your specialist should be working with you offering you alternatives which could be herbs, acupuncture, ADs, meditation, CBT, lifestyle changes such as exercise, yoga, dietary changes, etc. It's not acceptable to be told you cannot have HRT but then not treat you for menopause symptoms.

It seems the way of doctors. If they can't do tests and prescribe something they rapidly lose interest.

I experienced this in late pregnancy when my test for thrush came back as negative and that was it. But I still had sore swollen privates and couldn't sit comfortably Sad. Was told it was probably due to large amount of blood circulating in the area (twin pregnancy).

I now realise it was probably hormonal - like dryness you get from breastfeeding - I have experienced it in menopause. Vagifem sorts it.
