I'm fifty in a couple of weeks, have always had regular light periods 28 day cycle.. but seem to have other symptoms. For example brain fog, anxiety, tearful and emotional. Fine one minute and crying the next. Grumpy, no sex drive, sore itchy bits ( sometimes)! Tired, stroppy, sad, miserable , bloated etc.... need l go on!?😏
Not sure if I'm just a going through a mid life crisis or peri ? I did suffer from night sweats a couple of years ago but nothing recently and no hot flushes.
Any advice , supplements or therapeutic ideas!? All welcome. I'm fairly fit, swim, bike and walk the dog regularly but feel emotionally drained.
Is this just the beginning?!!!

OMG this is so me! although the dry itchy bits are all the flipping time...

my periods are regular and my doctor confirmed, at beginning of year, that i am pre-menopausal, as in i am on the cusp of menopause

the thing that brought me most joy was this can continue for about 10 years before i hit the proper menopause (i'm 45) x

Not great is it?! I'm pleased l have regular, light periods but the pmt just hangs around all month now. .
I was on citralopram 4 months ago ,(a low dose )due to family bereavement and struggling with stress and total " lows"!! But l decided l was fine and stopped taking them. I'm considering taking them again to see if they help with the tears and down feelings . But not sure what to do. When l went to the doctor originally l did say although my life was going through a difficult patch could it be peri menopausal symptoms that were the real issue. She didn't give me a definitive answer but didn't suggest a blood test.
I think l may return and ask for a blood test but because me periods are still " normal" I'm not sure they will.
But if l don't ask , l suppose I'll not know. But people on here seem to think the doctors are often reluctant....maybe due to cost?
But not sure if they say "yes" what can be done?!
Just be a grumpy old women, that's why going back on the AD may make me feel better!?
As for itchy bits.... been awful today. Itchy, so " rub/ scratch"!! And back to sore bits! Do you use any creams to elevate the itch?

As I'm 50 must be peri menopausal?!!! How long before periods become erratic and stop!?

my periods are definitely lighter, and the PMT does seem to be worse at the moment, it really is horrible.

so sorry about your bereavement. Maybe go back to the GP and explain the above and see what they say??

I have started using Replens Moisturiser today...used my first lot at lunch time and so far can feel a difference already. it lasts for 3 days, so only need to use it once every three days....

i bought it over the counter, but have been told you can get it on prescription also x

My periods were regular until the last 3 months when I had 1 every 2 weeks . Wonderful! (Not). I was on the verge of going to my doctor as they became very heavy as well when ... that was it! No more! I felt much better when they stopped. I've always had greasy hair and skin and suddenly both went very soft and non-greasy. I was 54 when my periods stopped, they started at age 10 so I feel that was long enough! I would go back to GP as you might need something else to help you through.
