I get really hot and sweaty, red face, then it changes within 5 minutes. I'm 50yo, nearly 51. Had a hormone test last year and was told I still wasn't even peri. My DGM had a child at 49yo, nearly 50, and my DM didn't have the menopause until 56-57. She had regular blood tests, for other reasons, and one time she was not in the menopause, the next time it was over.

Both went through very fast menopauses, within 6 months from beginning to end.

You getting cold flushes after the hot flushes

PollyPerky · 06/09/2017 12:26

Not sure what your question is or if you are just offloading.

Blood tests are unreliable. That's why NICE has told GPs not to do them on women over 45. Waste of cash. Don't show anything. Hormones change by the day and hour during peri. If you are having hot flushes, you are in peri.

The main thing is what your cycle is doing as well as symptoms like hot flushes as Polly Perky says. Have you started getting irregular periods yet? I've just posted on another thread about Stages of Reproductive Ageing and the problems of defining/treating peri-menopause if different definitions are used!
