Has anyone tried this? I am experiencing the above and they are the main reason I would go for HRT, but someone mentioned this to me, despite not having tried it herself. Any experience shared would be appreciated.

Anti depressants etc are not for menopausal symptoms unless a woman cannot use HRT for some very established medical reason. This is the clear advice of NICE. Unfortunately for many years GPs were anti HRT and prescribed ADs to women. There is a generation of women being medicated with ADs for menopausal symptoms and NICE is in the process of educating GPs not to prescribe this way. You can find this info in the NICE menopause guidelines - all online.

Not tried it sorry but when I first went to the docs to ask for hrt for my flushes my blood pressure was slightly high so she wouldn't prescribe hrt but gave me citalopram the anti depressant as she said it could help the flushes, took it for 3 days and felt terrible, headache, jaw clenching, nightmares and my eyes looked black!! Never again, would rather have had the flushes back.
Seen another doctor a few weeks later got prescribed hrt as my blood pressure had gone back down and my flushes disappeared about 3 weeks later. In my experience hrt definitely stops the flushes and I would rather take that than an anti depressant or any other type of medication that could "help",the side effects, for me,are not worth it.
