Hello there,
I had my ovaries removed around 4 years ago. I had endometriosis and so was prescribed livial ( tibolone) . In many ways this has worked well for me; I have libido, no vaginal atrophy, no fuzzy head . However, I have gained weight, recently had blurry vision in one eye from time to time, and have been feeling v depressed and anxious. I need to see a specialist to see if there is another option that will work better for me. I would really welcome advice from anyone who has been in a similar position and anyone who could recommend who I could see regarding this. Thanks so much.

Hi I'm not sure that a specialist is really going to help because the only options are various types of HRT which you can research / ask about yourself. A specialist will just pluck one sort out of the list and suggest you try it and see how you go.

Tibolone is used because it doesn't stimulate the womb lining ( as would other HRT because other HRT is estrogen and progestins of some sort. so if you have endo, Tibolone will stop the endo growing as it would with estrogen.

Weight gain does tend to happen in mid life anyway, unless we reduce food and exercise more , so it may or may not be Tibolone causing it.

You ought to see a dr about the blurry vision - or an optician- because that doesn't sound good.

Your only real option with HRT is the continuous type where the daily tablets contain estrogen and a progestogen which means the build up of blood in the womb (and elsewhere with endo) is limited.

You could try a conti patch of some sort. this is quite a helpful site
