I do get menopause symptoms while on the pill, does anyone else?

I'm 48 and I've been on the pill for most of my life since age 15 (came off to have one child). For the last 6 years I have been experiencing perimenopause symptoms, night sweats mainly. About 2 years ago I started getting occasional hot flushes accompanied by dizziness and nausea and my skin on my legs has dried out dramatically. When I checked with my mum, she confirmed they were the same as her symptoms and my mum has never been on the pill. When I tell this to doctors and health professionals they tell me I am wrong because "you do not get menopause symptoms on the pill". I do have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and I don't know if that changes anything. Does anyone else have any menopause symptoms while on the pill?

Is it CCP or POP? if CCP - what brand? Also if you are on thyroid meds this can be affected by HRT and menopause so maybe get your levels checked?

Not sure what CCP or POP stands for exactly but assume its to do with the pill. I'm on the full pill, always have been. The brand name is Levlen. (I'm in Australia.)
My thyroid levels are checked regularly and have been the same for over 15 years, even through my pregnancy!
No new medications were started around the time the night sweats and other symptoms began. I just would like to know if anyone else has a similar experience.

I wrote this on another thread. Hope it helps:

I was on the pill during perimenopause. The last 4 years I had the following symptoms:

More headaches during the week off - especially if I got thirsty (since found out that is an effect of oestrogen withdrawal)

Periods/withdrawal bleed reduced from 5 days to 3 days (light)

Vaginal symptoms - dry and itchy privates.

More night sweats (not just during the week off - this seems to be a mixture of low oestrogen during the week off and lower overall oestrogen, and the high progestogen content - it raises body temp)

Drier skin, reduction of breast volume and nipples, some joint aches.

I thought I had sailed through meno after 4 years of this, but when I came off I had a 5 month break, then loads of periods angry and other problems.

An alternative to COC (and with hrt) is Mirena and separate oestrogen patch/gel to control hot flushes etc. If you tolerate it, it is a good system for pre and post meno years.

You get a lot less progestogen in your blood than with COC. The progestogen seems to help the night sweats along by raising your basal body temperature.

I didn't do it as I am very squeamish about having the thing put inside you (and know someone whose went through), but I do regret not giving it a go now - it would have saved a lot of other hassles.
